Overview
An established coastal hotel in East Anglia is seeking an experienced Hotel General Manager to take full operational and commercial ownership of the property. Set in a sought-after seaside location, the hotel enjoys a loyal guest following and a strong local reputation, and now looks for a hands-on leader to build on that foundation.
This is a rare opportunity to run a characterful property end to end, with genuine autonomy to shape service standards, develop the team, and drive performance across rooms, food and beverage, and events.
The Role
As General Manager, you will hold overall accountability for the day-to-day running of the hotel and the delivery of its commercial targets. You will lead from the front, setting the tone for guest experience while managing budgets, revenue, standards, and people across all departments. The role is full-time and will include evenings, weekends, and bank holidays in line with the demands of a busy hospitality operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full operational ownership of the hotel, ensuring consistently high standards across all departments.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the team, building a positive culture and a strong pipeline of talent.
- Manage budgets, control costs, and drive revenue across rooms, food and beverage, and events.
- Own the guest experience, resolving issues promptly and protecting the property’s reputation.
- Oversee recruitment, training, rotas, and performance management across the team.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety, licensing, food hygiene, and employment legislation.
- Work closely with ownership to set and deliver commercial and strategic objectives.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a General Manager, or a strong Deputy/Operations Manager ready to step up, within a hotel environment.
- A commercially astute leader with a firm grasp of budgets, revenue, and cost control.
- Excellent people-management skills, with a track record of building and retaining strong teams.
- A genuine passion for guest experience and consistently high service standards.
- Sound working knowledge of hospitality compliance, licensing, and health and safety.
- Confident, hands-on, and comfortable leading a busy operation from the front.
