Overview
We’re working with a well-established, farm-based hotel and events venue in Hertfordshire, known locally for its quality, fresh, seasonal food, to find a talented Baker to lead their bakery offering. This is a rare opportunity to take genuine ownership of a section and put your own stamp on it.
This role would suit a baker with strong sourdough experience who’s looking for creative freedom rather than working to a rigid, corporate specification. You’ll have real input into what’s produced and how.
The Role
Working 45 hours a week, generally 6am to 3pm, with flexibility on days off to suit the right person. You’ll take the lead on the bakery offering across the venue, with sourdough baking at the heart of it, producing fresh bread and bakery items daily to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Produce fresh sourdough and a wider bakery range daily to a consistently high standard
Manage the bakery section independently, from ingredient prep through to finished product
Develop new bread and bakery items, bringing your own ideas and style to the offering
Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and organisation in the bakery area
Liaise with the wider kitchen team to plan production around events, covers, and seasonal demand
Manage stock levels and ordering for bakery ingredients
Key Requirements
Proven experience as a baker, with strong sourdough skills essential
Confidence working independently and taking ownership of a section
A creative approach to bread and bakery, with a genuine interest in developing and refining recipes
Good time management and the ability to work to early starts consistently
Right to work in the UK
This role would suit a baker who’s looking for a high degree of creative license and wants to make a bakery section their own.
